How it works
From last year's workbook to this year's FS package
StatLedgr follows the worksheet you already know: unadjusted trial balance, adjustments, adjusted trial balance, then the statements. What changes is how much of it your staff do by hand.
What changes in your process
The usual way, and the StatLedgr way
Compared with one Excel workbook per client, carried from year to year on one office PC.
| Task | The usual way | With StatLedgr |
|---|---|---|
| Worksheet | Formulas copied across UTB, adjustments, ATB, IS and BS columns; one broken link throws the whole sheet off. | The worksheet is computed from the trial balance and posted entries. Each account flows to IS / BS / CoGM / OCI automatically. |
| Beginning balances | Last year’s closing figures retyped or pasted into a new workbook. | Carry forward fills this year’s beginning balances from last year’s closing ATB in 1 step. |
| Depreciation | Lapsing schedule maintained separately, then the entry is keyed in by hand. | The PPE lapsing schedule books 1 depreciation entry (AJE-DEP) for the year and keeps it in sync. |
| Income tax | A separate computation sheet, with figures re-keyed from the statements. | Graduated, 8% and corporate (RCIT / MCIT) laid out per BIR 1701, 1701-MS and 1702-RT, read from the adjusted books. Books 1 tax entry (AJE-TAX). |
| Notes to FS | Last year’s Word file edited by hand; schedules retyped from the worksheet. | Notes carry forward and renumber themselves. Each note’s schedule fills from its linked accounts, plus RR 15-2010 and NOLCO disclosures. |
| FS package | Cover, SMR and compilation report assembled from templates each time. | Front pages fill in from the company and signatory records. The whole package prints in 1 click. |
| Tie-outs | Manual footing and cross-checks before review. | 7 automatic checks: TB, adjusting entries, balance sheet, PPE vs books, beginning vs last year, cash flow. |
| Review & team | Files passed around by email or USB; no record of who changed what. | Staff submit for review; the firm owner or an admin approves. Years move Open → Under review → Approved → Closed → Finalized. Every change is in the audit log. |
| Access | The workbook lives on one computer. | Any browser, any office. Client TINs, addresses and officer names are encrypted at rest. |
A client's year, in order
Seven steps from trial balance to signed package
- Set up the client
Add the company with its business type and reporting framework. Its chart of accounts is seeded from your firm’s template, with equity accounts to match: proprietor, partners or capital stock.
- Bring in the trial balance
Upload the year’s transactions. Beginning balances carry forward from last year’s closing, or you type them in for a new client.
- Post adjusting entries
Accruals and corrections go in as adjusting entries. Drafts stay out of the books until posted.
- Run the PPE schedule
The lapsing schedule computes the year’s depreciation by asset and posts it as one entry.
- Compute income tax
Choose graduated, 8% or corporate. Sales, cost of sales, deductions and credits come from the adjusted trial balance; the tax entry posts itself. Fill in the NOLCO and RR 15-2010 tabs where they apply.
- Review the notes
Last year’s wording and order carry in. Edit what changed; each note’s schedule of accounts fills itself at print time.
- Submit, approve, print
Staff submit the year; the owner or an admin approves it. Then print the FS package: cover, SMR, compilation report, statements and notes.
Your team
Everyone on the same file, with a review step before print
Roles that match a practice
The owner manages billing and the firm. Admins manage clients, templates and the team. Staff work on the companies assigned to them.
A review trail per year
Each submission, approval and request for changes is recorded. Staff can print once the year is approved.
Firm-wide templates
Your chart of accounts, notes and accounting policies live in one library. New clients start from it.
Balance checks on the dashboard
Every client card lists what doesn't tie: TB, entries, balance sheet, PPE, carry-forward and cash flow.
